Another "Dewey Defeats Truman" Episode
It's a good thing I didn't post the Palestinian election results last night as I would have to post a correction. I saw on the bottom line of MSNBC that the Fatah Party had won the Parlimentary election and that it was close, which is what other sources had said as well. I didn't find out until this morning that Hamas actually won the election.

I find a lyric by Tool so fitting right now do describe this situation:
"Some say the end is near. Some say we'll see armageddon soon."

This could get down right interesting!
Word is that Hamas approached Fatah about forming a coalition government and was turned down flat. One pundit said that Hamas didn't intend to actually win, just to take enough seats to put a political leash on Fatah.
Hamas won't be able to play the hide and seek game anymore. Terrorism by Hamas will be looked upon as an attack by the Palestinian government and not a bunch of out of control agitators beyond the scope of the Palestinian government to control.

the article said that Abbas still has plans for peace through the "road map" that he and Sharon have started. Abbas said that Israel should negotiate through the PLO and PA which he is the leader of to avoid Hamas. he also said he would resign if he could no longer persue the peace agenda. i am skeptical about this.
i'm the person in the Tool song who says armageddon is upcoming. look at the situation- we still have the Iraq and Afghanistan issues, next is the nuclear happy Iran with an insane leader, and now a Hamas led Palestinian govt.
if i knew how to calculate odds, i'd try and figure if the human race would be around by 2010.

Elijah,
So nice, you said it twice? LOL
Hezbollah, is a mostly Lebanese construction that receives funding from Iran and Syria, probably with closer ties to Syria.
Hamas is a "Palestinian" construct that receives funding from Iran as well as contributions from sympathetic Saudis etc.
Both are radical Shia Muslim organizations with the vowed intent to destroy the State of Israel in their charters.
Both fund Muslim welfare type programs and hospitals that in my opinion are little more than means to launder "charitable" contributions.
Essentially, the only difference between them is the same as the difference between the Red Army of China and the Red Army of the former Soviet Socialist Republic. Probably far less!

i did read a report awhile ago about terror cell fronts. i think it mentioned schools and other places that were filled with terrorist propaganda i.e. tapes, pamphlets, etc.
iran probably feeds money to every muslim organization that is pro-destruction of Israel. i don't have the patience to do the research to back this theory.
as for Alito- i think the dems will filibuster, unless the GOP has the 60 or so members to destroy it. i got your comment in my e-mail, but for some reason it isn't showing up on here.
